Ashburton Hill and High Country

Ashburton Plains

An open Fire Season is currently in place across the Ashburton Plains.

General Information

Be advised that a Restricted Fire Season is still in place for all lands administered by the Department of Conservation that are state areas and to the fire safety margins of any such state areas.

Under Environment Canterbury’s Natural Resources Regional Plan rules no outdoor burning is allowed at any time within all urban areas of the District without a resource consent from Environment Canterbury.

There is still an expectation that any outdoor burning is conducted in a safe manner.
