Other Environmental Health Hazards

Environmental Health covers many issues and hazards ranging from assorted nuisances such as bad smells and rodents, to agrichemical spraydrift, protecting your health in emergencies, and creepy crawlies. EHO's are often involved with following up on complaints, doing routine inspections, mediating between neighbours, and giving advice.

Swimming Pool Operation:
Swimming Pools are a potential health hazard so it is important to maintain pool water quality to a high level.  Refer to the A.D.C. publication “Swimming Pool Health Standards”


Spa Pool Management:
Similarly to swimming pools, NZ Standard 5826:2000 is the standard of reference that spa pools are guided by “Spa Pool Health Standards”


Outdoor Burning/Smoke:
Burning of waste needs to be planned and managed to minimise health risks; "Outdoor Burning and Rubbish Disposal"


Camping Grounds:
Coverage includes provision of a camp plan, marking of sites, cabins, lighting, hygiene, records, relocatable homes. Camping-Grounds Regulations 1985


Hairdressing:
The legislation is relatively concise and simple to interpret. Headings include Registration, Cleanliness and Personal Hygiene, Sanitary Practices and Disinfection - Health (Hairdressers) Regulations 1980
