Other Environmental Health Hazards

Environmental Health covers many issues and hazards ranging from assorted nuisances such as bad smells and rodents, to agrichemical spraydrift, protecting your health in emergencies, and creepy crawlies. EHO's are often involved with following up on complaints, doing routine inspections, mediating between neighbours, and giving advice.

Swimming Pool and Spa Operation: If you own or operate a swimming pool or spa for private use or public, it is important to know and understand what is required to keep users safe and healthy. Please read the following document “Swimming Pools and Spas”

Outdoor Burning/Smoke: certain restrictions apply to burning rubbish outdoors. Please read the following document so that your burn can be planned and managed to minimise health risks. "Burning"

Protecting Your Health in Emergencies: This booklet has everything you need to know about health protection when there are disasters like floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, storms, volcanic eruptions and forest fires: Protecting Your Health

Agricultural Chemicals Spray-Drift: Provides a definition, advises about minimising risks and taking action: Agrichemical Spraydrift

Dangerous and unsanitary buildings: Housing can be expensive, especially if you are a homeowner or landlord and it is your responsibility to maintain your property. Regardless of cost, however, it is essential that your house does not become dangerous or unsanitary. Not only does it threaten the health of the occupants, it looks bad, depreciates the value of your house, and it can also be illegal.
