ASHBURTON DISTRICT COUNCIL
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT ACT 1991

FURTHER SUBMISSIONS INVITED

AREAS OF SIGNIFICANT NATURE CONSERVATION VALUE
DISTRICT PLAN – PROPOSED PLAN CHANGE 10

NOTICE OF DECISION OF ASHBURTON DISTRICT COUNCIL

ON PROPOSED PLAN CHANGE 10 TO THE ASHBURTON DISTRICT PLAN

AREAS OF SIGNIFICANT NATURE CONSERVATION VALUE – GROUP 2 SITES

In accordance with the First Schedule of the Resource Management Act 1991, Ashburton District Council wishes to publicly notify its decision on Proposed Plan Change 10 to the Ashburton District Plan (Areas of Significant Nature Conservation Value – Group 2 sites).

The Council’s decision includes decisions on submissions, reasons for accepting in part or rejecting the submissions received, and the amendments to the District Plan.

The decision is available to download from this webpage. Alternatively, copies of the decision are available for inspection at the Council’s offices at 5 Baring Square West, Ashburton and at the Ashburton Library.

Those who made a submission on the Plan Change may appeal to the Environment Court. The appeal must be in the prescribed form and be lodged with the Environment Court within 30 working days of being served the notice of decision in accordance with the First schedule of the Resource Management Act.

The Plan Change amends the District Plan to reflect a review undertaken of sites identified as potentially having significant nature conservation value. These are known as ‘Group 2 sites’. Areas of Significant Nature Conservation Value are sites that are important for their ecosystems and indigenous biodiversity.

This review has been undertaken in order to avoid, remedy or mitigate adverse effects on the values that make these areas significant for nature conservation and reflects policies in the Ashburton District Plan.
