Ashburton Town Centre Concept Plan
The Council has produced a Town Centre Concept Plan which provides the Council with a basis for planning and delivering improvements in Ashburton Town Centre over the long term. The Concept Plan identifies 18 projects that could revitalise the town centre and make it a more attractive place to work, live and visit. These projects cover public spaces including squares, parks and roads, as well as private land which the Council will work with landowners to enhance.
The Concept Plan enables the Council to better co-ordinate any works it undertakes within the town centre and provides clear direction and awareness amongst individuals, businesses and interest groups.
The Concept Plan was informed by public consultation, which identified a number of issues and aspirations individuals and groups have for the town centre. The public were also asked for their preferences on a range of options for the direction the town centre grows, the projects that could revitalise the town centre, and the areas that there should be stronger links with including the Domain and River.
