The Planning team is leading, or has completed, a number of other projects in planning for future development and improvements in the District’s towns and villages including
Ashburton Town Centre Concept Plan 2009
The Concept Plan identifies a series of projects that could make Ashburton Town Centre more attractive to live, work and visit. Projects such as the revitalisation of Baring Square East will be delivered through the Long Term Plan while other improvements will be achieved through the Proposed District Plan e.g. rules allowing for higher density residential development close to the town centre.

Ashburton Development Plan 2005
The Development Plan identifies areas for future residential and business development in Ashburton, Methven and Rakaia, which will be implemented through the Proposed District Plan. The Development Plan also provides a basis for planning infrastructure and services in each town.
Small Villages Development Plan 2008
The Small Villages Development Plan 2008 identifies areas for future residential and business development in the villages across the District, which will be implemented through the Proposed District Plan. It also identifies improvements that could be delivered in each of the villages.
