A Plan Change is an amendment to the current (Operative) District Plan, which the Council may propose or any member of the public may request. Changes requested by anyone other than the Council are known as ‘Private Plan Changes’. Examples of changes that may be sought include but are not limited to the following:-
- the rezoning of land for a different use e.g. residential development in a rural area
- amending rules in the District Plan to ensure they are effective in achieving objectives of the Plan
Anyone can make a submission in writing, in support or opposition to a Proposed Plan Change provided the submission is received before the period for submissions closes.
