Planning provides a framework for managing the future use and development of land while ensuring the protection of resources for future generations. This is achieved through the District Plan and other responsibilities of the Planning team at Ashburton District Council.

District Plan
- To view and download a copy of the Current (Operative) District Plan
- To find out about the Proposed Ditrict Plan and the latest updates on the review process
- To find out about changes to the current (Operative) District Plan that have been adopted by Council, following requests for plan changes by members of the public
Other Projects
To find out more about other plans the Council has prepared and how these plans are being delivered
Resource Consents
- To find out about applications for resource consent that are available for the general public to comment on (Notified Resource consents)
- To obtain forms and guides for use during the process of applying for resource consent and what you need to know if you are affected by a proposal for development
The Planning Department of the Council is also responsible for -
- monitoring the effects of activities on the environment
- taking enforcement action including prosecution where the use or development of land is undertaken illegally
