Winners announced at TrustPower Community Awards

The winners for the 2017 TrustPower Ashburton District Community Awards were announced last night at the Hotel Ashburton. Congratulations to the awardees and to all the volunteer groups for entering.

The winners for each category were:​

Heritage & Environment: Improve and revitalise the local environment, culture or heritage.

Winner - Ashburton Museum Volunteer Team
Runner up - Hakatere Heritage Committee

Health & Wellbeing: To provide services that enhance the social wellbeing of people.

Winner - St Johns Ashburton Operations Volunteer Team
Runner up - Victim Support Mid Canterbury
Commendation - IHC Volunteer Programme

Arts & Culture: Enhance and icnrease participation in arts and creative leisure activities or improve.

Winner - Fa 'a Pasifika Play Group Ashburton
Runner up - Multicultural Bite
Commendation - Methven Action Committee

Sports & Leisure: To increase the participation and enjoyment of sport leisure and recreational pursuits, or provide support for participants.

Winner - Coronation Target Shooting Ashburton
Runner up - Ashburton Wheels Week Committee

Educational & Child Youth Development: Improve and enhance the education of the community, or the educational or social development of children and youth.

Winner - Friends of the School - Our Lady of the Snows School
Runner up - CACTUS Mid Canterbury
