A subcommittee has been formed to oversee the Ashburton District Council's Wilkins Road and Ocean Farm wastewater facilities.
In September, the Council received a review of the operational and farming activities at Ocean Farm that identified opportunities to reduce costs, improve compliance, increase revenue and improve operations. The review found a number of issues that were leading to increased costs, including high irrigation system maintenance costs and ineffective wetland cells.
The Council's Service Delivery Committee today agreed to form a subcommittee to assist the Council to finalise its action plan for Ocean Farm, based on the review's recommendations. The subcommittee will also assist the Council with other key wastewater projects.
Committee Chair Stuart Wilson said, "The subcommittee will assist in providing better governance and oversight to Ocean Farm, ultimately delivering better value for money for Ashburton District's wastewater treatment."
