Search is on for Sports Facility Manager

Monday 31 March 2014

Ashburton District Council's search for a Sports Facility Manager at the new EA Networks Centre is now on.

Neil McCann, Group Manager – Service Delivery, says it is exciting to be moving to the next stage of this important community project and a key part of this new phase involves getting a talented person on board to manage all aspects of the state-of-the-art facility.

"The Sports Facility Manager position represents a significant opportunity for a business-savvy, sports-minded professional to establish and coordinate all aspects of the operation in the lead up to the opening of the Centre and then take responsibility for its long-term success.

"Whether it is developing relationships with key groups in the community to determine what their needs and expectations are, marketing the venue or training staff, Council is ready to get someone on board to take the lead on these things and make the community proud of the new venue from day one and well into the future."

"Ultimately, we want the successful candidate to help put our new stadium on the map.

"We expect that the Centre will be an attractive venue for locals to use for years to come and that it will also serve to bring more visitors to the district – including sports teams and tourists," he says.

Mr McCann says Council is very pleased with the way the Centre is coming together and knows that people are keen to start enjoying all that the Centre offers.

The Centre will provide Ashburton District with a first-class indoor swimming and sports facility, featuring a ten-lane 25 metre competition pool, leisure pool, warm water learn-to-swim pool and a warm water programme pool.

The indoor stadium features four competition sized courts, spectator seating, a fitness centre and a sports house providing administration space for local sports organisations.
