New manager for Ashburton Museum

A new manager has been appointed for the Ashburton Museum.

Tanya Robinson has accepted the position and will start on 21 March 2016.

Mrs Robinson has a strong background of over twenty years involvement in museum, archives, education and creative industries, with experience across arts administration and heritage management, collaborative community events, and work with collections and exhibitions.

She currently works at the New England Regional Art Museum in Armidale, New South Wales.

Neil McCann, Group Manager Service Delivery at Ashburton District Council, said she will bring a wealth of experience to Ashburton. Much of her previous experience has been in the Hawke's Bay where she worked for the Hawke's Bay Museum and Art Gallery, before working in Australia for three years.

Mr McCann said Mrs Robinson's experience and attitude would be a great asset to the museum team. "We are looking forward to having her on board," he said.
