Ashburton District Council is delighted with the EA Networks Centre’s new concertina
seating, following overwhelmingly positive community feedback on the seating at recent sporting events.
Council Sports Facility Manager Steven Prescott says visitors are impressed with the Centre’s new seating arrangements and is looking forward to the opportunities on offer.
"Everyone you talk to about the concertina seating is thrilled with how great it is and what it does for the range of sporting activities coming through the Centre. We are very pleased to
have this facility available and look forward to attracting more big ticket events to the
EA Networks Centre."
The concertina’s 966 seats have been rolled out for a number of sporting events during the last few weeks including the Special Olympics, wheelchair basketball, and the Secondary Schools Premiership basketball tournament.
"We are very thankful for the community’s ongoing support of the Centre and are pleased to provide them with a quality facility. The concertina seating is another great addition to the stadium and we hope the community will continue to enjoy it for many years to come."
The $339,000 funding for the concertina seating was provided by the Ashburton Stadium Trust and the Lion Foundation. The additional seats bring the total courtside seating capacity to
