Major Swim Meet at EA Networks Centre this weekend

The main pool at the EA Networks Centre will be closed for parts of this weekend to accommodate the South Island Town versus Country Swim Meet – the first major Swimming NZ Meet to be held in Ashburton.

The main pool at the EA Networks Centre will be closed on Saturday 27 February from 8am until 12.30pm and again from 4pm until 7pm. On Sunday 28 February, the pool will be closed from 8am until 12noon.

About 300 competitors will take part in the Swim Meet, which will use the EA Networks Centre's sophisticated electronic timing system.

Sports Facility Manager Steven Prescott said, "The meet will not only benefit the EA Networks Centre and local swimmers but has positive spinoffs for the whole community, thanks to the large number of visitors who will be in town this weekend."

Ashburton Mayor Angus McKay will open the competition on Saturday morning.
