Draft Bylaw documents Open for Feedback

The Ashburton District Council adopted its new draft Mobile Shops, Stalls and Hawkers Bylaw, Water Supply Bylaw and Wastewater Drainage Bylaw as well as an Explanatory Bylaw at its July 28 monthly meeting.

Consultation on these documents is open from July 29 until August 29th.

The purpose of the proposed Mobile Shops, Stalls and Hawkers (MSSH) Bylaw is to ‘regulate trading in public places in order to protect the public from nuisance and to protect, promote and maintain public health and safety’.

The proposed MSSH Bylaw 2016 will revoke and replace the existing Mobile or Travelling Shops, Stalls and Hawkers Bylaw 2008.

The draft Water Supply Bylaw 2016 aims to protect Council’s water supply systems and will amend the 2008 Water Supply Bylaw and the draft Wastewater Drainage Bylaw 2016 aims to protect Council’s wastewater systems and will replace the expired 2008 bylaw of the same title.
