Employment Opportunities

Our district truly is a land of surprising contrasts ranging from a wild coastal fringe through the patchwork of the fertile Canterbury Plains, the foothills of the Southern Alps and onto the rugged grandeur of the high country and the Alps themselves.
Our district continues to grow in population, economically, services and infrastructure. We proudly retain our local rural character, yet have opened our arms to diversity and all nationalities; together forming a much stronger & vibrant community.
The Ashburton District can offer you work & lifestyle diversity and a family friendly community, whilst still being only minutes away from an International Airport. If public service and playing a part in preserving and enhancing our amazing district for future generations is important to you, we would like to hear from you.
If the below vacancy is not in your area of expertise, please feel free to send in an application of interest – containing a CV & cover letter to hr@adc.govt.nz, so we can contact you when a suitable position arises.

Well our Community Planning Team does just that. To fit into this team you will have to be the type of person who thrives on task diversity and has the ability to build strong working relationships with project stakeholders.
The duties involved depend entirely on the demands of the project at hand, however they will include maintaining databases, researching information, managing internal and web-based communication, co-ordinating surveys and assisting with community consultation processes. With an eye for detail you will have high standards in document presentation and content accuracy; you will also need to enjoy word processing, proof reading, coordinating version control and publishing a variety of official documents.
If you want to work on varied projects that make a difference to a real community, form real relationships and see the results of your effort, we’d love to hear from you. A position description can be downloaded online or collected from the Council’s reception. Applications including a current CV and cover letter will be accepted by post, email or at reception.
