Employment Opportunities

Ashburton

Our district truly is a land of surprising contrasts ranging from a wild coastal fringe through the patchwork of the fertile Canterbury Plains, the foothills of the Southern Alps and onto the rugged grandeur of the high country and the Alps themselves.

Our district continues to grow in population, economically, services and infrastructure. We proudly retain our local rural character, yet have opened our arms to diversity and all nationalities; together forming a much stronger & vibrant community.

The Ashburton District can offer you work & lifestyle diversity and a family friendly community, whilst still being only minutes away from an International Airport. If public service and playing a part in preserving and enhancing our amazing district for future generations is important to you, we would like to hear from you.

Should the following Vacancies, not be in your field of expertise; please continue to send in an application of interest – containing a CV & Cover letter to hr@adc.govt.nz, so we can contact you when a suitable position arises.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS OFFICER

This is a helpdesk position with a difference…

…because we offer variety. This full time position will have you solving users’ computer problems, managing the IS helpdesk, maintaining website content and supporting team members who manage the network, servers and the GIS application.

Armed with technical Microsoft knowledge and troubleshooting experience; you will impress us by your drive and desire to learn more. With over 100 PC’s, you will need to enjoy working in a busy environment, have good oral and written communication skills and have the ability to prioritise tasks.

If you want to work on the biggest IS network within the Ashburton District, have a read of the online job description and then send in a cover letter and copy of your CV.

Applications close Friday, 11 July 2008.

BUILDING SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

Keen to co-ordinate, manage and administer?

This full time position will provide you with challenge (learning the Building Consent Authority Processes); variety (ensuring the Building Team complies with all administrative aspects of the Building Consent Authority Processes) and autonomy (there’s support but the ownership is yours)!

With previous experience maintaining and improving systems to ensure legislative compliance, an eye for accuracy, a preference for system driven work methods and a friendly confidence to answer customer queries, we will excuse a lack of building knowledge.

So, if you’re a great communicator with strong computer skills, we would like you to start the process by applying for this position.

Applications including a cover letter and CV will be accepted by post, email or Council reception. Applications close Friday, 4 July 2008.

ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT

15 hours per week – what hours would suit you?

With previous experience in an office administration position, the ability to use basic Microsoft Office software and follow processes; this property numbering position should provide you with enough challenge to keep you interested, yet not count mailboxes in your sleep.

With support from the Planning team, you will enjoy the given task responsibility and thrive on the opportunity to further develop, document and improve property numbering within the district. We envisage standard hours and days; however you can determine whether you want to work 2 full days, 3 part days or propose an alternative.

Applications including a cover letter and CV will be accepted by post, email or Council reception. Applications close Friday, 4 July 2008.
