2011 GENERAL ELECTION
2011 is general election year and it’s your opportunity to have your say on how the country is run.
The 2011 general election and referendum on the voting system will be held on 26 November 2011.
Under the Electoral Act 1993, every person is required to be enrolled if they are eligible to do so. While it is mandatory for people to enrol, voting is not compulsory in New Zealand. When enrolled for the parliamentary election you are automatically enrolled for Local Government and District Health Board elections and any by-elections, polls or referenda that take place.
