Ashburton District Council’s Customer Services team are the first point of contact for the community. They handle all requests for information and service and also receive and process payments.
They refers requests for services to Council contractors or Council staff for action. Requests for minor issues such as pot holes, water leaks, rubbish and animal issues are referred directly to contractors for action.

The council offices are closed on Public Holidays and the three days between Christmas and New Year.
After Hours Service
The Ashburton District Council provides a 24 hour service for all urgent calls. This includes noise, animal and water complaints.
Outside office opening hours calls will be answered and messages relayed to the appropriate service. Please ring the same number.

Requests for official information are governed by the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA) and the Privacy Act 1993. These Acts aim to balance public interest and preservation of personal privacy.
Requests are processed within 20 working days. There is usually no charge, unless researching your request will involve a considerable amount of staff time, and/or a large amount of photocopying. If your request will incur any charges we will let you know beforehand.
