The Ashburton District Walking and Cycling Strategy was developed in 2008 in a collaborative process with Council, key organisations and the community.

The strategy has been developed with the aim of encouraging walking and cycling in the Ashburton District as safe, healthy and active modes of transport, provided for in a way that acknowledges the diverse needs of the different communities within the district.

Copies of the Ashburton District Walking and Cycling Strategy are available from Council offices, the library, or can be downloaded here.
