What is this about?
The 2010 Ashburton District Sport and Recreation Strategy (formerly known as the Physical Activity Strategy) is now available for public consultation.
The first Physical Activity Strategy for the district was developed in 2006 through a joint process between a range of community groups and organisations. Many of the actions identified in the original strategy are now complete so a review of the current strategy was needed.
Council has prepared the draft strategy on behalf of the community using the information gathered from a series of workshops held throughout the district earlier this year. Over sixty people from a broad cross section of groups and organisations attended these workshops to have their say.
On behalf of Active Ashburton we invite you, or your organisation, to give us feedback on the draft Sport and Recreation Strategy. The feedback can cover any aspect relating to the strategy and you can write it however you like.
We are also looking for any great photos or images you or your organisation may have of sport and recreation in our district that can be included in the final strategy. Any images used in the final document will be acknowledged. Please let us know if you do have images that could be used. |

Submissions close at 5pm on Friday 9 July. All submissions are to be returned to the Ashburton District Council offices by this date. We want to make sure our community continues to have outstanding sport and recreation opportunities, so let us know what you think of this strategy!
