Planned new Art Gallery and Heritage Centre on West Street, Ashburton

Ashburton District Council accepted a tender to construct the new Ashburton Art Gallery and Heritage Centre in August 2011.

The new Art Gallery and Heritage Centre will enable us to properly care for our district’s history and culture and cater for current and future generations.

By preserving the district’s archives, we are providing our community with a greater understanding of our heritage.

Features included in the Art Gallery and Heritage Centre will include:

·         Museum display, storage and conservation facilities

·         Space for the Ashburton genealogical society and its research materials

·         Art Gallery display, storage and conservation facilities

·         Café and retail space

·         Dedicated education space

Bringing these services into a single facility will see the Ashburton Art Gallery and Heritage Centre being a hub of knowledge and learning for the district and will expand the quality of services provided to the community.
