The Methven Community Strategic Plan underwent a review process during 2008/09 and was officially launched in November 2009. The plan provides Methven with a ‘roadmap’ for the community's direction and development for the next ten years.
The 2009 strategy builds on the success of the previous plan, developed in 1997. The original plan proved to be a resounding success with most of the actions achieved. An example of a project undertaken over the past ten years is the urban design and upgrade of Main Street. The new plan provides a way to take that next leap to continue to develop Methven as a great place to live and visit.
The 2009 plan has been developed by the Methven community through a process facilitated by Ashburton District Council. The review has involved a series of community workshops and meetings to develop the plan, discuss the goals for the future, and to define specific actions detailing how the community can achieve its goals.
Thank you to everyone who has been involved in the development of this plan, and for your time and ideas. Ashburton District Council looks forward to supporting the strategy and helping Methven to realise the goals they have set out for their future.
